Autumn Hiking, Camping, and Dao Talk

WHEN: Sat 10/26/24 – Sun 10/27/24
Where: Daoist Gate Center Xuan Ju, Francestown, NH

Master Zhou will lead a day of hiking and camping in New Hampshire. This is one of Master Zhou’s favorite activities in the fall: gathering friends and students to hike the White Mountains!

Taking a hike is a term to shoo someone away, but it can have a different meaning in this context. When one is at a dead end or stuck in a situation or a decision, taking a hike in nature guarantees to rejuvenate one’s spirit. New Hampshire’s autumn is truly something spectacular; the intense hues of the fall foliage are unmatched. This is a must-see site. And to walk up to the mountains within the proximity of this vibrant display of colors, from green to shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown, is priceless. Master Zhou will head early on Saturday morning and take leisurely, moderate walks in one of the mountains he climbs so often.

This year, we will head to Mount Kearshage, 475 Kearsarge Mountain Rd, Wilmot, NH 03287. The trails are within Winslow State Park, a public recreation area located on the northwest slope of Mount Kearsarge in Wilmot, New Hampshire. The state park features a picnic area on a 1,820-foot plateau with views of the White Mountains to the north. Along the pathway, he’ll talk about herbal wilds in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and occasionally pose to savor the trails’ breeze and vistas. This may include a trip to the waterfall or a local farmer’s market. In the evening, everyone will gather for a bonfire and an evening of talk about Daoism or just about anything in a relaxing atmosphere. We share stories over food and cups of tea!

For the adventurous, we can pitch a tent and sleep under the stars.
