Scholarships can light up every student’s eyes and fuel the fire in their belly to keep the dream going. We would like to assist if this is unattainable for you because of financial hardship. Daoist Gate Center offers a scholarship for our annual Intensive Training in Xuan Ju. With our current state of financial climate and difficulties for many, we recognize that help is needed for those underserved students who need more resources to start and/or continue training. Hence, we offer tuition-free scholarships to individuals passionate about practicing Wudang Martial Arts who qualify and meet our scholarship criteria.  We will consider all types of application stay for two-month, one-month, two-week, or one-week.

Eligibility – Who are qualified to apply for this scholarship?

  • If you are already a student of Master Zhou Xuan Yun and want to continue training
  • If you are a new student who has been wanting to train with Master Zhou
  • If you can demonstrate financial hardships

Application Requirements:

  • Write a two-page personal statement to let us know why you need this scholarship and why you would like to train in Wudang Martial Arts. Include the intended and desired training times at Xuan Ju—for example, one month in April and one week in May. Be as thorough as possible.
  • Send in your bio and/or curriculum vitae.
  • Two letters of recommendation from verifiable persons of good standing in your community. 
  • Wage information from the previous year. Income tax return from the previous year.

Exclusions: 

  • Expenses for personal needs during your stay at Xuan Ju
  • Transportation costs to and from Xuan Ju
  •  Special food and/or accommodation due to allergies or sensibilities

Expectations: 

  • Follow the rules and procedures as stated in our stay policy 
  • Train diligently and consistently
  • Assist Master Zhou in keeping Xuan Ju for the duration of the stay

Daoist Gate reserves the right to:

  • Screen and select the scholars
  • Choose the best candidate based on needs and merits
  • Dispense full or partial scholarships, depending on the general scholarship funding available
  • Withdraw the scholarship should the recipient fail to fulfill or attend the designated Intensive months of training 
  • End the scholarship for misbehavior and unbecoming conduct during the stay  

The Daoist Gate scholarship is nontransferable and is not redeemable for cash or credit for different classes. It is strictly applied only to the designated year of the intensive training months of April and May.
